Defender

The Defender, direct heir to the Series

Launched in the early 1980s as the Land Rover 90 and 110, named after their wheelbase length in inches, these off-roaders took the Defender name in the early 1990s. Built in Solihull until 2016, the Defender kept the spirit of the first Land Rovers throughout its life: separate chassis, aluminium body panels, beam axles and a boxy silhouette. Workhorse, expedition vehicle or leisure 4x4, it came in many body styles (Station Wagon, Pick-up, Hard Top) and engines, from the 200Tdi and 300Tdi diesels to the Td5 and then the TDCi.

Its bonnet lettering is one of the most visible features of the front end: on a well-used vehicle it is often faded, scratched by branches or covered by a poorly matched repaint.

Our decals for the Land Rover Defender

Our selection for the Defender is deliberately simple:

• « DEFENDER » bonnet / grille lettering: suitable for 90 and 110 versions, for a clean front end.
• « Defender » keyring: a STICK-IN creation in soft PVC featuring the model’s name.

More markings may join this category as owners request them.

Getting the bonnet lettering right

The Defender’s bonnet is aluminium and its paint has usually lived a little: lightly flatten any traces of the old marking, then clean and degrease carefully to remove wax and trim restorer residue. Mark a horizontal reference line with masking tape and centre the lettering on the vehicle’s axis, measuring from both edges of the bonnet. With cut lettering, place the whole set on its transfer tape, squeegee letter by letter, then peel the tape back slowly, folding it over itself. Avoid pressure washing for a few days afterwards.

Our decals are made to order in France within 3 to 7 days, by enthusiasts of characterful vehicles.
