Renault 19 | 16S - 16V

The Renault 19 16S: an understated hatch with a 16-valve heart

Launched in 1990, the Renault 19 16S, sold as the 16V in several export markets, received the 1.8-litre F7P sixteen-valve four-cylinder, the very engine that would soon power the Clio 16S. Offered as a three-door, a five-door and later as a convertible, it stands out with its specific bumpers, dedicated wheels and slim body pinstripes running along the waistline.

The 1992 facelift marks the line between phase 1 and phase 2: grille, lights and trim details changed, and some markings changed with them. To a trained eye, a crooked pinstripe, a faded gear knob insert or a dull engine cover is all it takes to give away a rushed restoration.

Our stickers for the Renault 19 16S and 16V

The range combines markings specific to the sporty 19 with the technical labels Renault applied across its models of the same era:

• Side pinstripe decals for phase 1 cars, in 3-door, 5-door or convertible versions;
• Gear knob insert to replace a worn or faded original;
• "F16ie" engine cover sticker to bring the cam cover back to life;
• Engine bay labels: "Renault préconise ELF", coolant, battery warning and ELF oil cap;
• "Sans plomb 95 / 98" fuel door-shut sticker and Jean Ragnotti signature;
• Keyrings 19 16S, 19 16V, F16ie and Renault Sport, designed by STICK-IN.

Preparing your 19 16S for fitting

Before ordering the pinstripes, check your car's phase and number of doors, as the cut follows the shape of the panels. Mark the position of the old stripes with masking tape before removing them, degrease the paint with isopropyl alcohol, then apply in mild weather, out of direct sunlight, pushing the air out from the centre towards the edges. Under the bonnet, clean the greasy areas around the expansion tank and battery thoroughly: a perfectly clean surface ensures lasting adhesion, even with engine heat.
