Renault 15 | R17

R15 and R17, the coupés of the seventies

Introduced in 1971, the Renault 15 and 17 were based on the Renault 12's mechanicals but had a very different personality. The R15 was the elegant, affordable coupé, in TL and TS trims; the sportier R17 is recognised by its louvred rear side windows and could be ordered with a large fabric sunroof. The fuel-injected 17 TS later took the name 17 Gordini, a badge that speaks to every Renault fan. Production ended in 1979.

Long overshadowed by the Alpines and sporty R5s, these coupés are now back in favour. Restoring one takes patience, as many trim items have become impossible to find, including the small engine bay labels.

Our stickers for the Renault 15 and 17

For now, the R15 and R17 selection focuses on what lies under the bonnet:

• Elf Prestigrade Sport Supra oil cap label, available in two variants, a faithful reproduction of the period label.
• A label shared across the Renault range: the same one was used on the R4, R6, R8, R12, R14, R16 and Alpine A110, handy if you restore several cars.
• Special request: missing a C-pillar script, a badge or a label? Submit it through our "Looking for a specific sticker" page; every request is studied.

Detailing an R15 or R17 engine bay

The Elf label recalls the long-standing partnership between Renault and the oil company, and its presence on the cap is one of the details expected on a well-restored car. Before fitting, clean the cap to remove all traces of oil, degrease it thoroughly and let it dry: no adhesive lasts on an oily surface. Centre the label, press firmly from the centre outwards and avoid touching it with oily fingers at later oil changes.

Faithful reproductions, made to order in France by classic Renault enthusiasts.
