405 (+ Mi16)

Peugeot 405 Mi16, the saloon for 16-valve fans

Styled with Pininfarina and voted European Car of the Year 1988, the 405 renewed Peugeot’s family range at the end of the 1980s. Its most desirable version, the Mi16, received a 160 hp 1.9 16-valve engine at launch, a sharpened chassis and a discreet yet recognisable look. For enthusiasts, its boot and wing badges are key details, just like the engine-specific features.

Over time, the 405’s lettering loses its relief, chrome or colour, and many cars have had their engine labels disappear during servicing. Restoring them brings the overall presentation expected at a show.

Replacing a badge without damaging the paint

To remove an old 405 badge, warm the adhesive with a hairdryer, then slide a nylon line behind the lettering, pulling it flat against the panel. Remove any glue residue with a product safe for clear coats, then degrease. Before fitting the new badge, find its position from the outline left by the old one or by measuring on a car of the same phase, as placements may have changed during the model’s life.

Made to order in France, our decals are faithful reproductions produced by Peugeot performance enthusiasts.
