505

The Peugeot 505: Sochaux's last great rear-wheel-drive cruiser

Unveiled in 1979, the Peugeot 505 succeeded the 504 with crisp lines to which Pininfarina contributed. True to the layout of its predecessors, it kept rear-wheel drive, an asset for comfort and driving pleasure that earned it a strong reputation for toughness, even on African tracks.

Saloon, estate and seven-seat Familiale: the range was wide, from the most frugal diesels to the sporty GTI, Turbo Injection and V6 versions. For collectors, it is often the details under the bonnet that separate a merely maintained 505 from one restored with care.

Our stickers for the Peugeot 505

Our 505 selection focuses on technical labels and on accessories recalling the brand's history:

• Cooling system sticker for the engine bay, shared by several Peugeots of the period;
• Alternator / battery label, to put back in its original place after cleaning the engine;
• "505" badge keyring in soft PVC, designed by STICK-IN;
• Peugeot Talbot Sport keyrings, as logo or grille stripes, and 1980s Peugeot lion keyring, designed by STICK-IN.

Bringing a 505 engine bay back to life

The technical labels of a 505 have often suffered from heat, oil splashes and pressure washing. Before replacing them, photograph their exact position, then peel off the old ones with a heat gun on a low setting. Degrease the metal or plastic with isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, then apply away from areas directly exposed to hot hoses. Once fitted, avoid close-range pressure washing on these labels: a damp cloth is enough to keep them clean.
