Renault and Alpine: two schools of period graphics

From the Renault 4 and 16 to the Clio 4 RS, Renault has always taken care over the identity of its versions: die-cut lettering on the tailgate, branded grilles, body stripes on the sporting models and, under the bonnet, a host of technical labels carrying the ELF name, the brand's long-standing partner on track and on the road. Alpine, founded in Dieppe by Jean Rédélé and later taken over by Renault in the 1970s, lent its name to the Renault 5 Alpine and Alpine Turbo, whose side graphics are among the most sought-after by collectors.

Every family has its own codes: the gold "Williams" badges on the Clio, the "F16ie" rocker cover of the 16-valve engines, the chequered graphics of the Mégane RS Trophy or the "Turbo" script of the hot hatches of the 1980s.

Identify the right version before ordering

At Renault, one model name often covers several phases with different graphics: check the registration year, the colour of the remaining lettering and its exact position before choosing. A photo of the original part still on the car is the best reference.
