On the Renault 5 GT Turbo, the gear knob insert shows the shift pattern in red. Over time the numbers wear away: this cut red decal recreates the original pattern and is protected with a coat of lacquer once fitted.

Fitting tips

Clean and degrease the surface thoroughly (isopropyl alcohol or a mild degreaser), then let it dry: it must be clean, smooth and dry, ideally between 15 and 25 °C.

Hold the decal in place with its clear transfer tape, adjust its position (a strip of masking tape makes a handy hinge), peel off the backing sheet, then squeegee from the centre outwards. Finally peel the transfer tape off slowly, folding it back flat on itself.

Gear knob: you must varnish the sticker once fitted (clear varnish, in thin coats) to protect it from wear by the hand.
