205 Rallye

The 205 Rallye, heir to Peugeot's motorsport story

Launched in 1988, the 205 Rallye extended the glory earned by the 205 Turbo 16 in the World Rally Championship. Conceived as an affordable base for club competition, it received a lively 1.3 fed by twin double-choke Weber carburettors, a lightened three-door body and equipment reduced to the essentials. Its look is instantly recognisable: white paint on the vast majority of cars, white steel wheels, wheel arch extensions and Peugeot Talbot Sport tricolour stripes.

Many Rallyes ended up in hill climbs or slaloms, and examples still in original condition are becoming rare. Tracking down every period marking is part of the pleasure of restoration.

Our decals for the 205 Rallye

Here is what this category brings together:

• PTS grille stripes in three colours, the visual signature of the sporting 205s.
• "Râpe" badge for renovation, shared by several sporting Peugeots of the era.
• Rear window stickers "Champion du monde des rallyes 1985 et 1986" and "Un constructeur sort ses griffes".
• Textured door pillar trims in black for three-door 205s.
• Engine bay labels: Shell or Esso oil cap, coolant, cooling circuit, alternator and battery, "Attention clé à bougie".
• Keyrings: 205 Rallye 1.3, "205", PTS stripes and logo, 1980s Peugeot lion, all STICK-IN creations.

Restoring a Rallye engine bay

Under the bonnet of a Rallye, connoisseurs scrutinise every detail, from carburettors to air filter. Before fitting technical labels, note their original location on photos of preserved cars, clean the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and avoid areas too close to the exhaust. White paint makes the PTS stripes stand out: align them carefully on the grille before removing the backing.
