309 (+GTI)

The 309, the 205's lesser-known cousin

Launched in 1985 and built until 1993, the 309 started life as a Talbot project before wearing the lion badge, which explains a name outside the brand's usual logic. It shares much of its engineering with the 205. In 1987 the 309 GTI received the 130 bhp 1.9-litre XU9J, and in 1990 the GTI 16 adopted a 160 bhp 16-valve engine: two versions now highly regarded by connoisseurs, more understated and now rarer than the 205 GTI.

Under the bonnet and on the body, the 309 GTI borrows many markings from its little sister: Shell or Esso labels, cooling reminders, GTI lettering. Finding them in good condition is often the final step of a successful restoration.

Our decals for the Peugeot 309

The selection brings together specific markings and labels shared with the sporty Peugeots of the period:

• GTI rear badge shared by the 205 and 309 GTI, plus the rubbing strip badge.
• Engine bay: Shell or Esso oil cap, alternator and battery, "-15" coolant, cooling circuit, spark plug spanner warning, GTI airbox.
• PTS grille stripes in Peugeot Talbot Sport colours.
• Rear screen slogans from the rally years, including "Champion du monde des rallyes 1985 et 1986".
• Speedline PTS wheel stickers for SL434 wheels.

As for accessories, the "309", "GTI" and PTS stripe keyrings are STICK-IN designs.

Tell GTI and GTI 16 apart before fitting

Before ordering, identify your exact version: the engine code stamped on the block and the registration document distinguish an 8-valve GTI from a GTI 16. Under the bonnet, note the position of the original labels before any pressure washing, as the black or grey painted areas don't forgive a misplaced sticker. Thoroughly degrease any oily surfaces before fitting.

All our decals are made to order in France within 3 to 7 days: faithful reproductions designed by Peugeot enthusiasts.
