The “Renault préconise Elf” (Renault recommends Elf) decal that graced the engine bays of 1980s-90s Renaults.

Renault's long-standing motorsport partner, Elf also put its name to the production engines: the “Renault préconise Elf” decal sat under the bonnet of many Renaults, from the Clio Williams and 16S to the R5 GT Turbo, R19, R21, R25, 4L and Alpine GTA. Our reproduction respects the period design and colours.

Fitting tips

Clean and degrease the surface thoroughly (isopropyl alcohol or a mild degreaser), then let it dry: it must be clean, smooth and dry, ideally between 15 and 25 °C.

Under the bonnet, work on a cold engine and degrease well: oil vapour prevents adhesion.

Peel the decal from its backing sheet by one edge, position it, then apply it from the centre outwards to push out any air.
